Bottom line is a don’t like this figure. It fails a lot, despite a couple of strenghts.
The figure’s sculpt is excellent. He has a small hole in his back leftover from the previous use of this mold. The detail on the droid’s wires, cables and structure are excellent.
The paint job is very good. The figure is a nice dark metallic. There’s some nice paint wash that makes the figure look more metallic and weathered. The figure is tall and imposing, and looks good. The figure’s leg have just enough mobility that it should fit on a speederbike and joust with the clones.
He comes with a rifle, a blaster, and a lance. Interestingly, Hasbro didn’t take the easy route, and sculpted a different lance than the one Obi-Wan has. It has some neat sculpted details and paint bits to make it pop.
Now for the bad parts:
The plastic is very soft and bendy, precisely the opposite of what we should expect from a metallic droid.
There is a cable on the left thigh that plugs into a hole in the crotch. (Hey, I didn’t design it!) You can barely move the left leg without this coming unplugged, so it’s kind of silly.
The figure was straight black in the cartoon, so the figure is inaccurate in that sense.
And here’s the one that makes this one a failure: THE FIGURE CAN’T HOLD THE LANCE PROPERLY! No matter what it may look like in the picture, as it would seem there is a “clip” that should allow it to snap onto IG’s arm. But this is not the case. IG’s “doo-dads” on his arms prevent this from happening.
THIS SUCKS!
Anyway, worst figure I’ve reviewed so far. He looks good standing on a shelf, but a bunch of dumb things really kill this figure.
