This is a cool figure, but honestly I am a bit less excited about it in person that I was from seeing pics. I’m really not sure why. It’s big and tall, it’s imposing, and it looks like it will kill you. The paint is a bit bland. Just black, dark gray, and metallic grey. The design is straight from the “Dark Forces” video game. This Phase one trooper has the standard super articulation, although it could have benefited from a ball jointed torso instead of the swivel waist. The cables on the upper body are sculpted in a connected fashion, while the cables on the legs are actually sculpted at only one end, and plug into holes for their other ends. The blade attaches to the wrist like a gauntlet, which is kind of neat. The shield, which has a cool pattern, fits snuggly into the droid’s hand. The joints are handled well, and blend in with the sculpt nicely. The figure is capable of a variety of poses.
Anyway, not much to fault, because it’s a pretty straight forward figure. It’s executed about as well as could be expected, so I think Hasbro did a nice job. I’m looking at this guy and while it’s a cool design from one of my favorite video games, there’s something lacking that I just can’t put my finger on. Unfortuntely, as an army building in the final exclusive wave of the Legacy line, it could be tricky to find.
