7/10 Bantha Skulls

Ugh - the stupid head ruins this otherwise nearly perfect figure!

It is lightyears ahead of the craptastic previous offering that came with the “Jedi vs. Sith” battlepack.  The body sculpt is great, terrific use of soft goods.  Obi comes with ball jointed hips, a surprise.  He would be able to ride atop a speeder bike to joust with the enemy.

The lance is a good sculpt that he can hold at the ready position, but it’s lacking a bit in the paint detail department.  Standard Obi lightsaber and a clone helmet round out the accessories.

The figure is painted well.  There is no weathering on the armor, which may or may not suit your tastes.

The face scuplt looks nothing like Ewan MacGregor, and the flaming hair looks silly.  Seems as if Hasbro was trying to blend the cartoon look with the realistic style, and they bombed this.  The helmet is way too large, and looks odd, damaging the asthetic of this figure.

So close Hasbro, but the failure is a big one, knocking this figure down to a 7, when it could have easily been a 10.

8/10 Bantha Skulls

Well, here we’ve got another Obi-Wan, but this time he’s in General’s Gear. Which, its not the first time we’ve gotten this incarnation of him, but it might as well be! This one trumps the old one, so much that you might as well throw that old one away, forget it ever existed, and then go buy this one. Not the animated one, this one. The sculpt is pretty good, for the most part. How can you screw up a clone body when you crank so many out a year? The only nitpick is the head sculpt. Its… not very good. It makes Obi-Wan look like a crazy, Irish drunk. No, not Ruadh, but almost. But when you put on his helmet, its looks don’t improve much, as the helmet is about two sizes too big for his head.

He’s got mostly standard articulation, except Hasbro went ahead and went all-out on him and gave him ball-joint hips, increasing his range of motion, and allowing him to sit on a speeder bike, when they make one for him, at least.

He comes with a standard lightsaber, an oversized helmet and a giant lance that he can use to battle the IG Lancer Droid or even Durge if you bought extras. The soft goods are pretty well done too, except his skirt part feels a little too short, but I think they had to make it that way to be able to sit on a speeder. All around, this is a pretty good figure. Not perfect, but you should definitely pick it up.
