Major Variants
*None reported

Notes
*This vehicle is from the Expanded Universe comics.  It comes with the captain of Dagger Squadron, Netrem Pollard.
*Included, is a sticker sheet with 4 different patterns so that, should you choose, you could create any (or all) of Dagger Squadron.
*This TRU exclusive made it out at some stores for the 7/26 Midnight madness launch.  It was originally thought to have a release date early in 2008 - some TRUs put out product tags on the shelves back then.  It was then delayed, and then thought to have an official release date in August or September.

9/10 Bantha Skulls

Yeah, I really like it.  Screw you.

This is one of my favorite vehicles from the OT.  It may be “EU” technically, but I don’t care.  It’s a repaint of the B-Wing.  This time around, it comes with interchangeable cannons (2 of which actually fire), a sticker sheet that lets you choose which member of Dagger Squadron is flying this particular ship, and a new character as a pilot.  And he’s got some character.

You’ve seen this “sculpt” before.  It has the foil wings that are manipulated with a few turns to one of the engines.  It has retractable landing gear controlled a by a small lever.  The cockpit “gyroscopes” so it can stay right-side-up as you spin the vehicle in flight.  The canopy opens and closes easily.  Two handles inside the cockpit swivel to allow the pilot to grip them well.

It adds a new set of cannons, that you can easily swap out from the old style.  The new cannons have spring loaded missiles.  Unfortunately, they’re not that powerful.  The little spring loaded weapons that are available with some of the Clone Wars figures are definitely much more powerful.  Nevertheless, you have an opportunity for a little variety in your B-Wing weaponry.

It also comes with a sticker sheet (mine came with 2 – mistake?  Did yours only have one?) that allows you to decorate the vehicle in 4 different ways – one for each of the members of Dagger Squadron. Of course you could mix and match to make up your own.  I also really like the little TIE Fighter/Bomber/Interceptor silhouettes that are included, to show the battle trophies of your vehicle.

The pilot is good.  Netrem Pollard shares a sculpt with other recent B-wing pilot releases.  His paint scheme is reminiscent of Ten Nunb from the Rebel Pilots Evolutions set, with a few differences.  He sports an all new head sculpt, painted well to emphasize scars.  I can’t say he resembles his comic book appearance (shown above), but I wouldn’t expect it too.

All around this is a terrific vehicle.  $40 may be a bit high (it’s a TRU exclusive), but if you can get over the “EU-ishness” of the color schemes, it would make a great addition to your rebel fleet, even if you’re an OT purist type.
