Notes taken from the Hasbro Presentation:

The show opened with a nice viewing of the trailer for the upcoming 3-part Ryloth story arc from the Clone Wars series.  Good stuff.

You can follow along with the slideshow, by downloading HERE, then opening in powerpoint.

HERE
(Broadband connection recommended - takes about 10 seconds to download!)

- Titanium was not discussed, although it is alive
- 2” Unleased battle packs are dead
- Mighty Muggs will continue but only as a TRU exclusive.

-The new cardbacks will have red replace blue.  While the white backgrounds remain, the new look blends the angles and artwork of the TAC cards with the current version.

CLONE WARS

Basic Figures:

- 37 planned, with heavy concentration at the end of the year.
- Hasbro can’t design and produce figures fast enough to keep up with the series and demand, but will be ready by the fall.
- 3 new waves shown, which included core characters in new outfits, and a new important character named Cad Bane.

Deluxe Figures:

- 1 figure included with small vehicle.  $16 price point.
- The 4 shown have all resculpted vehicles/beasts, but future assortments will be new.  They will be reminiscent of the “just off screen” look of the Kenner mini-rigs.
- Tank Gunner crew has cannons that attach to the Turbo Tank

Starfighter Vehicles:

- 3 new vehicles shown.
- Magna Fighter has compartment for the magna guard pilot to keep his staff
- Vulture Droid holds a pilot and converts to walking mode
- TX-130 holds 2 figs – inspired by video games and CW series.

Deluxe Vehicles:

-Arc Shadow vehicle part of Imperial Program to recycle old Republic ships prior to fully transitioning to new TIE program.
-Y-Wing holds 2 pilots and droid.
-$60 price point.

Large Vehicles:

- Hasbro loved success of BMF and AT-TE despite poor ecomony.  Big vehicles are in the plan.  Hasbro swears the Turbo Tank is the only one for 2009, however.
- With no interior plans available from Lucasfilm, Hasbro was given go ahead to design the interior from scratch. LFL “loved it” and is making it prominent in an upcoming CW episode.

LEGACY COLLECTION

Basic Figs:

- 46 figs not including current ANH wave, which is technically Wave 5, 2008.

Wave 1

- Emperor is the “monkey face” version from the original ESB.
- CPT Needa is designed with body that has special tooling so that the rank can be changed for future imperial officers.  Hasbro is dedicated to ensuring rank is correct.
-Hoth Rebels and Ugnaughts will have second variant appear in next wave, along with new BAD parts.
-Hoth Rebels will include the skirt.

Wave 2

- Obi Wan is from cancelled EVO set.
-Concept figures will appear throughout the year, and not just McQuarrie designs.  The Anakin is notable for his Sith eyes.

Wave 3

- Gungan is SA – DePriest hinted that just as ewoks are popular again, so will Gungans.
- Ratts Tyrell made the slide but was replaced by Clegg Holdfast.  Ratts will probably make it down the line at some point soon.
- L8-L9 BAD is from Asajj Gladiator scene the original Genndy CW cartoon, despite Hasbro swearing they were done with that series.

-Qui-Gon w/ Eopie Mail in – Tied into TPM wave with Rex-like offer (look for Maul stickers on cards).  Helps celebrate 10th anniversary.  Deco on Eopie is different, and Qui-Gon is Evo version.

Comic Packs –

-There will be a long break, but Comic Packs will be back in the fall.

Battle Packs –

-Battle packs will ship with TLC and CW mixed together.
-Geonosis Assault has Ball turret that attaches to current and “future” Gunships.  No clarification on what “future” meant.

Exclusives:

-Target will bring the TOMY remote astromechs to the US.  These are great!
- Walmart will revisit the Droid Factory 2 packs.  5 sets will let you build the impressive Phase II Dark Trooper.  This series gave Hasbro the opportunity to add the cape to Grievous.
-Walmart will carry the last 3 Evolutions sets, which are essentially repaints.
- SDCC (and HTS) will bring us the silly smiling Luke originally planned as part of the Droid Factory set from Walmart in 2008.  It will come with a ladder.
- The maddening TFU Stormtrooper Commander will be back at HTS.com and SWS.com.
-Target will replace the popular Order 66 sets with a Geonosis Arena set of 2-packs.  Supposedly the unopened packages can be displayed in some kind of special arena format, so it sounds like trickery to buy 2 sets.  Kit Fisto is sculpted with his iconic smile.

Random questions about various lines:

-There were lots of questions about pricing and the economy.  While concerned, Hasbro realized that after the solid year (despite the economy) the new assortments justify the pricepoints.  They basically said to forget the past prices.

- Hasbro seemed less than optimistic about the continuation of the TF animated series (and the line)

- Hasbro is addressing the known issue of paint rubbing off some TF products

- Lots of GI JOE Movie exclusives will be revealed soon.

- SDCC will bring announcement regarding the Marvel Legends line

- Hasbro still trying (unsuccessfully) to figure out how to bring the Death Star to life.

- Devastator = $100

- GI JOE “The Pit” base = $100

- Indiana Jones is dead, but Hasbro will be there if another movie is made.

- There is no plan for universal 3 ¾ inch stands for the Hasbro brands.
