Major Variants

*First Day of Issue foil stickers were added to assortments of The Legacy Collection Wave 1 and The Clone Wars Wave 1 figures.  Each figure exists with and without the sticker.  Also, the “Star Wars” logo on the front of the FDOI cards has a metallic finish.

*When released as part of Wave 2, this figure sported a “clean” paint finish.  It lacks the weathering on the white part of the armor.  However, the blue markings are still “chipped”, making this figure nearly identical to the completely unweathered version that was shipped as part of the mail-away offer.

Notes
*Unlike The Legacy Collection which has codes for the numbering system (BD, GH, SL), The Clone Wars line is numbered simply:  No. 1, No. 2, etc…
*Captain Rex was also the character chosen for the “preview” mail away figure.  However, delays forced that version to be shipped nearly simultaneously with the release of this basic carded figure.
*This figure is the same mold as the mail away, but it is a dirty/weathered version, and comes with a rifle (instead of a blaster) and extra rocket firing weapons.  He lacks the cardboard environment.

8/10 Bantha Skulls

This version is more intersting than the mail away version of Captain Rex.  It maintains the same sculpt.  The only articulation that could be added are ball jointed hips.  He is scuplted to look just like the animated character.  The kama is plastic, but it is very thin, and does hinder mobility much.

He has a removeable helmet, pauldron, 2 pistols that fit snugly in holsters, a rifle, a large rocket-firing weapon, a rocket, and a rocket/rope/attachement.  These items are all painted very well, with nice details.  The weapons have good weathering and look metallic.

He’s got a pretty mean face sculpt.  Looks like the animated character.  He’s got the unusual attribute (for a Jango clone at this stage in life) of grey hair.  The helmet fits nicely over his head.

I like this figure better than the mail away mostly because of the additional weapons, and the fact that his armor is well-weathered and worn.  It’s a very good paint job, and Hasbro should take this cue and add similar weathering to armored troopers in the main “realistic” basic line.

It’s a very good figure, despite the fact that I am not a fan of the animated look, overall.  I am a 501st collector, so he fits right in with my collection.
