Banthapedia article on 501 Legion
“The 501st had blue markings, which they altered just before their raid on the Temple. They knew they were following Anakin Skywalker, so they painted big blue “A"s on their chests. They were a little embarassed when they found out he’d changed his name to Darth Vader, and claimed it was actually just a lower case “i” with a triangle over it instead. Vader saw through their deception.” - Banthapedia

* Wal*Mart was given a theme for their Clone Wars exclusives: The Blue 501st Legion Clones.
*This figure includes an offer to joint the 501st Clone Troopers. You don’t actually become a member of the fan organization by the same name, it’s just a fun thing for kids (and adults!) to do. You can customize your own ID card, or get one made at a Wal*Mart photo center.

As a 501st focus collector, I had to have this. Essentially, it’s the same figure as the basic clone trooper but with blue 501st markings.
This trooper is “clean”, as it lacks the interesting weathering marks present on the basic white clone. He is very highly articulated, with 14 points – all of which are ball - except the hips. I had difficulty putting him in a kneeling stance, because his legs are so thin. He is made of a soft plastic that may lend itself to warping.
The sculpt is true to the movie. I’m not a big fan, as the clones look just a bit “off”.
His paint is simple. No weathering, which was a neat aspect of the regular clone.
The ID card feature is a nice touch. Not only can you customize your own, you can slip your card back into the carded figure bubble, which makes for a nifty display.
This figure is available for a very reasonable $6.99, as opposed to its big chain exclusive counterparts. The Holo Grievous was $9.99 at TRU and the Commander Fox was $12.99 at Target.
A good deal. A good figure. A good gimmick for the kids.
