Notes
*This figure was offered as an exclusive mail away from Hasbro.  Figures from Wave 2 of the 2009 Thirtieth Anniversary Collection (TAC) as well as from the TAC Legends line included a sticker on the package that indicated a Rex mail-away form was inside the bubble.  Mailing this form with 4 UPCs from any TAC figure along with a check for $6.99 would result in this figure arriving at your doorstep.
*The mail-away promotion began roughly around January-February of 2009.  Rex figures were initially supposed to ship in May or June, but delays pushed it back to right around the time of the Launch of The Clone Wars line, on July 26th, 2008.
*The delay meant that it was no longer an advance “preview” figure.  In fact, the Captain Rex basic figure (No. 4) was available at about the same time in stores, which dampened the excitement of the offer.
*CPT Rex is a member of the famed 501st Legion.  He is the first figure immortalized by Hasbro from the 501st that is wearing Phase I Clone Trooper Armor.

7/10 Bantha Skulls

I’m not a fan of the animated line, but this is a pretty good effort.  Captain Rex is a good sculpt with loads of articulation.  The only articulation he could add are ball jointed hips.  He is scuplted to look just like the animated character.  The kama is plastic, but it is very thin, and does hinder mobility much.

He has a removeable helmet, pauldron, 2 pistols that fit snugly in holsters, and a blaster.  These items are all painted very well, with nice details.  The weapons have good weathering and look metallic.

He’s got a pretty mean face sculpt.  Looks like the animated character.  He’s got the unusual attribute (for a Jango clone at this stage in life) of grey hair.  The helmet fits nicely over his head.

The figure also comes with a cardboard environment, which was included as part of the card back.  It makes a nifty display when set up.

This figure’s main failure is that it was supposed to be a “sneak peak” figure.  Delays had it shipping just around the same time Captain Rex’s basic carded figure was available in stores.  Plus the figure wasn’t “free” with proofs of purchase like the old line.  You paid $6.99, just like a basic figure.

In any case, the end result is pretty good, especially since I don’t care for the line as a whole.  But I am a 501st collector, so he fits right in.
