This is a pretty neat vehicle. It’s not from the movies, so that may turn some people off. It joins Anakins’ “souped-up” Jedi Starfighter from the microseries as one of the few vehicles in the modern line not from the movies.
Nevertheless, it’s pretty good. It’s got a pretty good sculpt. The cockpit cover is oval shaped, unlike that of the microseries cartoon version, which is blocky. As I have yet to see the CG animated Clone Wars movie, this vehicle may yet be accurate to that model.
The cockpit is nicely done, and fits a figure comfortably. The landing gear are manually deployed, and work solidly. The wings roll about 180 degree to point directly up or directly down, and everything in between. There is no “locking” feature, so the wings may get loose over time, so let’s hope not. The tail fin shifts from upright to downward. In this case, both postions are lockable.
Guns on the wingtips fire springloaded projectiles, and work pretty well.
The painting is simple, but it looks like the animated ship did. It has Republic insignia, and a simple but angular red on white paint scheme, reminiscent of X-wings.
It’s a neat ship, but it’s not a movie vehicle. This is an overall solid addition to the $20 vehicle line.
