Pretty decent sets here.
EVO Trooper: Repaint of the TAC figure. It’s got a funky camo pattern, but is otherwise clean. He comes with a removeable backpack, 2 pistols, and a rifle. The pistols don’t fit as well as they should in his hands, and there are no holsters to keep them secure. His bulky shoulders don’t allow him to hold the rifle with both hands. He’s SA, but has a slighly problem looking sturdy even when standing straight. A decent troopbuilder, but nothing really new if you have this figure already.
Juno Eclipse: Nice figure, a resculpt of the TAC version, this time with the video game accurate open tunic look. Her removeable hat fits very well on her head. She can hold the blaster in one or both hands nicely. She’s got a pretty decent facesculpt. Cool figure.
Galen Marek (Raxus Prime) - Excellent figure with a striking sculpt. Lots of tattered clothing, awesome looking metallic gauntlets and gloves. He has a good face sculpt, and the scarf really gives him a tough menacing look as he protects himself from the elements. He grips his lightsaber tightly in one hand, while making a Force using gesture with his other. I really love this figure.
Elite Militia: Another fantastic figure. Great sculpt, lots of armor. The shoulder armor is removeable (no picture) and attaches via a peghole. Removeable backpack, and a very nice helmet with cool paint details. The colors and paint scheme are great, and the figure comes with a huge gatling gun. The only complaint which keeps this figure from virtual perfection - he has no damned ankle articulation! Big letdown. Otherwise, it’s awesome.
Shadow Trooper (x2): Hasbro initially had shown pictures of a clear stormtrooper representing the “vanished” version of the trooper, and in the other set, a grey/metallic/black shadow stormtrooper with removeable helmet. The final sets come each with one of thed clear/blue-ish troopers representing some kind of hybrid disappearing trooper. It’s kind of neat looking, but I definitely would have preferred Hasbro came through with their original plan. The sculpt is the standard modern SA stormie, clear, with some blue “highlights”. The blaster is completely clear, and fits into the holster. For whatever reason, the hands don’t grip the blaster two well.
Imperial Jumptrooper: Another straight repaint from the TAC line, this version is clean. He comes with a removeable bakpack/jetpack, and a large weapon which he can grip well in one hand, and can sort of be posed to look like he’s holding it with both hands. Another cool army builder, but nothing really new here.
PROXY: This is a neat figure, but I feel it could have been much better. It’s not quite super articulated, as the head and shoulders are just swivel joints. He’s agot a pretty cool paint job, but I feel the dark blue trim really should have been a neon blue, to better represent the glowing energy that PROXY had in the game. It also could have come with something like the “lightning” or “electricity” burst to cover his body (like some R2 figures have) to represent him transforming into a “holographic” training opponent for Galen Marek. It’s a unique figure, I just feel the opportunity to make it great was lost.
Galen Marek (Mandolorian armor): Another outstanding version of this character. Super Articulated with a really cool sculpt and armor. He comes with a soft plastic tunic/skirt/belt thingie which fits very snuggly and looks phenomenal. When removed, you can see that the figure has a narrow waist which doubles as a slot for the plastic tunic to “lock” into. Therefore, while it’s removeable, it is best to leave this piece on the figure. His hands are sculpted very strangely - I believe this is kit bashed from a Fett figure (Boba or Jango, I can’t recall). As such, they were never meant to hold a lightsaber hilt. The right hand can’t do it, but the left hand manages to hold on. Marek comes with a removeable helmet which fits well over his head, which also has a nice sculpt and paint job.
Felucian Warrior: Probably the weakest figure in the set, it is a straight repaint of the Rancor Rider that came with the TFU Rancor in the TAC line. He’s got limited articulation. The bizarre head has no movement. The paint scheme is actually pretty cool. It’s not a winner, but I personally like it, as it will help flesh out any Felucia diorama I might someday set up. Someday....sigh.
Overall these are both pretty good sets. There are 3 repaints (EVO trooper, Jumptrooper, Felucian Warrior), 2 duplicate “recasts” (2 clear plastic shadow stormtroopers), 1 character represtented in 2 new outfits (Galen Marek Raxus Prim and Mando armor) 1 character resculpted (Juno Eclipse) and 2 completely new characters (PROXY and the Elite Milita). It’s got a few decent troopbuilders, and some really terrific new figures, especially the Elite Militia and the Galen Mareks. It was disappointing that there weren’t the two versions of the shadow trooper as was originally planned. These are both decent sets of some pretty cool characters, especially if you were a fan of The Force Unleashed story. Even if you weren’t, the figures may still be worth collecting. The best part is that these sets retailed for only $29.99, which is surprisingly inexpensive, particularly for a Toys R Us exclusive.
