2/10 Bantha Skulls

Not really much to say here.  This is the big-winged TIE Fighter, which has been released a couple of times at TRU and Target in various colors.  This version differs in that it has a large Rebel Insignia painted on the panels, which represents the scene in the “Darklighter” storyline in the “Empire” comics in which Biggs Darklighter, Derek Klivian, and other Imperial cadets defected to the Rebel Alliance.

Klivian comes as a pack-in figure, in his TIE Pilot uniform.  Just like the Biggs TIE Pilot figure that was released as part of a Legacy Evolutions set, the helmet has an open face.  While interesting to look at, the problem is that there is no face-shield to protect the pilot from the vacuum of space.  Nonsense!  Anyway, the face sculpt is, well a bit odd looking, and the paint job is not very good.  The only noteable little thing about the figure is the rebel insignia on his shoulders.  Not very stealthy, if you ask me.  And you didn’t

If you like the story, this is probably a pretty neat addition to your collection.  If you generally shun the EU, the giant Rebel insignia probably ruin an otherwise good vehicle.  The price, to me, is very high at $55, especially since it was priced at about $40 at TRU and Target when it was missing the rebel logos.  $15 for the logos, plus shipping, isn’t a particularly favorable deal.  In fact, I only bought it because I found it at online retailer on sale for $40.
