Major Variants
*none reported

Notes
*This comes to us along with a load of other rebel pilots recently and in the near future, including an almost simultaneously released Evolutions Rebel Pilots (I).
*Each set has 3 figures, which then reuse the same 3 body sculpts for the other set.  The difference is in the paint applications and head sculpts.
*This represents the first release of a female X-Wing pilot.  Along with the female stormtrooper (Joker Squad) and the female Imperial Officers (Deena Shan/Juno), this represents a very good year for women in the Star Wars military.

8/10 Bantha Skulls

(This review combines Rebel Pilots I and Rebel Pilots II)

Bottom line is that these are good sets of action figures.  Fans wanted more pilots, and we’re getting tons of them this year.  Between these evolutions sets, comic packs, vehicle pack-ins, and a few others, Hasbro is drowning us in them.  Ask and ye shall receive.

So the figures are well articulated (14 points each) and come with the required accessories - helmets and guns.  The sculpting detail is very good, the paint is well done, and the face/head sculpts are decent.  My issue with these sets is character selection, and, well, it’s just a LOT of pilots.

Set I
Dorovio Bold - Never heard of her.  Supposedly she was in ROTJ, but if she was, I missed it.  The key here is that this is the first female rebel pilot sculpt, so it will increase the variety for your pilot dioramas. The helmet fits tightly, and her pistol fits snugly into the holster, as well as her hand.
Wes Janson - Straight from ESB, so I like him.  He’s Wedge’s gunner, and he takes down the first AT-AT with the tow cable.  Good stuff.  His helmet has great detailing and fits his head very well.  His sculpt, I suppose, looks like the film character, from what little you can see of it in the brief sequence.  He has no holster, but the gun fits well in his hand.
Ten Nunb - I hate this character.  This is ther 3rd figure of this “blink and you miss him but he may or may not be wearing the right suit vary far in the background character”.  I’m fine with either of the previous versions of him, and would have preferred a new character choice.  Nevertheless, the sculpt is far superior to his previous version.  The alien helmet fits his head well, and he holds his pistol firmly.

Set II
Cesi Eirriss - This figure re-uses the female body of Dorovio Bold.  The only thing different is the head/helmet, and a few paint changes.  The head sculpt is decent, although the paint is very plain.  The all-new helmet is nifty, and fits her alien head perfectly.  Well done!  Again, never heard of her, and she’s not from the movies at all, but I like the design, and a few alien Rebel Pilots thrown in the mix is good stuff, I suppose.
Kesin Ommis - Another character I’ve never heard of.  This is the only figure in the set with a severe problem.  His helmet is waaaay too large for head head, and it wobbles around stupidly.  Also, his head is not hollowed out well for the neck peg, so he has a tendency to stare upwards, and you can’t really tilt his head down.  Basically, he looks like a tiny bobble-head doll.
Keyan Farlander - A more popular EU character.  He has a decent face sculpt.  Although he shares the body sculpt with Ten Nunb from the other set, he has one less air hose for his flight suit.  This is because Ten Nunb’s helmet attaches to his suit, but Keyan’s helmet does not have the same design, so he has no need for that second hose.

If you like Rebel Pilots, you need these sets.
