6/10 Bantha Skulls

Not a bad set, in my opinion.

This is the first figure for Talon Karrde.  This works for me, since I really enjoyed Timothy Zahn’s novels, but I’m disappointed in the “biker” look.  I prefer the “Robin Hood” look.  He’s fairly well articulated, nicely sculpted.  His paint is decent.  The face sculpt is good, and has personality.  He has a weapon that he can grip well, and it fits snugly in the holster.  If you’re strictly a movie collector, this figure might go well in your dioramas as background filler.

Thrawn is a nice figure.  He’s an improvement over his POTF2 ancestor from 1998, which in many cases was hard to find.  He is SA, has a nice intimidating facial sculpt, and is painted well - except for this recurring problem of the ankle joints being unpainted.  The figure comes with an Ysalimiri, the confounding animal that somehow shields against force usage.  Thrawn surrounded himself with these animals in an attempt to remain safe from Jedi attack.  In the books/comics, Thrawn can be seen carrying a ysalimiri on his back in a specially built harness, which unfortunately for the second time in the history of Thrawn figures (that’s 2 for 2 if you’re keeping score) he does not come with the back pack.  As such, you must settle for the less accurate situation, in which Thrawn simply carries the animal over his shoulders.

A decent set, which I like, but I think it’s because I like the Zahn books, and because Karrde is an all new character, which always scores points with me.  If you never heard of these guys, don’t dismiss the set - Thrawn makes for a neat imp officer, and Karrde can fill your need for background humans.
