Notes
This item was produced by Tomy as an exclusive for the Japanese Star Wars Celebration in 2008. It is identical to the previously released R2-D2 and weathered R2-D2, other than it being cast in clear plastic.
It was available after the convention on the official StarWarsShop.com website, and sold for $19.99.

I love these guys! Tomy does a great job with this concept.
It is nearly to scale with the Hasbro figures. It’s a bit larger than Hasbro’s astromechs, which is obvious when you compare them. But when standing next to other figures, you really can’t tell.
The Tomy RC line is simple. There are 2 on buttons – one on the droid, one on the lightsaber shaped controller. The first button sends the droid rolling forward, while beeping and lighting up. The second button spins the droid clockwise. With a bit of practice, you can send him in all directions, even though going in reverse and spinning counterclockwise are not options.
I highly recommend picking up at least one of the astromechs from this line. There are a few different ones. This exclusive is just a fun variation on R2. If it’s not to your taste, pick up the regular R2, or even go for R5-X2, a figure not made by Hasbro yet!
