Bantha Skull is Oscar Mike. At least I hope we will be at some point today. If you checked in on our site this weekend, you know that it was down more than it was available. I'm going to be seeing 500 errors in my nightmare for weeks to come. For our hosting solution, we are powerless to control server errors. Our host has to take the corrective action. The error isn't even showing up in our error logs (which means it's probably being generated by another site on the same server). This issue has been going on for months now. I've done everything on our end that could possibly resolve the issue to include upgrading all the site software to the latest and greatest version. I don't have the time to spend hours on chat witch tech support every time this happens. Moreover, when we did go through the hateful process of the tech support game of fifty questions, we were told nothing was wrong with our site (while it was actively returning a 500 message). Our host is not taking this issue seriously.
This has left us no choice but to move to a new host. We've found one that works with our specific CMS. It seems like a win, and hopefully we can start the process today (their sales team was unavailable over the weekend, otherwise the process would have already started). The new solution will be a little more expensive, but hopefully we'll also get better performance. Unfortunately, this means we have to temporarily pause the content as this project unfolds other than posting any relevant updates. At some point, I will take down the full down on site our existing host. Then as the DNS updates propagate you will see the live site on the new host (if things go according to plan). I will make a new post on that new host, and I will ask you to comment on it. Once we see the comments start flowing, we know we can resume the content.
Thank you for sticking with us through this hiccup, and please pardon our dust. I hope the site stays up long enough for you to see this message. It was miserable composing it when every other time I hit save, I got that 500 error.
